“Oh, err… Sure! Of course. Coming right up, Boss.”
And with that Hibiki left to get Shinichi a cup of coffee. Hibiki knew where the coffee machine was, so he went there, taking confident steps. He was in a good mood… However, once he stood in front of the coffee machine he realized this task would be more demanding than he had thought.
“How does the boss like his coffee? Black? With cream? With cream and sugar? How do you operate this machine?! Did I even hear him correctly?! What… What if he wanted… tea?!”
In the meeting room where, usually, we have conferences and whatever, there’s a different change of atmosphere. Hanging from the ceiling are streamers of many colours, brightening up the neutral walls into something much more lively, exciting, perhaps youthful. To accompany those streamers are party hats littered across the desk, chair to chair, each reading one phrase that everyone has heard once in their life. Certainly, the sprinkled confetti around the room gives off the impression that there’s a party here, or a party to be?
And in the middle of that giant, round table is what every coffee addict would adore. A delicious three tier coffee cake, filled with caffeine and icing, topped off with decorations of typical detective devices. Gadgets? Magnifying glass? Even the gun looks real! This is definitely something you’d see in the television show Cake Boss, right? And smack bam in centre there’s huge writing.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHINICHI KUDOU!
In small print, you can read the words, “meme in peace, Sherlock Holmes.”
My first Shinichi Kudou experience do you mean having the whole Enforcement Department dumped on me with one day’s worth of memories or having my office broken into and getting decked across the face?
And guess what, Shinichi’s deductions were correct! You are absolutely perfect to lead the Enforcement Department. Aren’t you glad with the job you received from him? Heh.
Shinichi Kudou, bedridden with illness… That’s how the rumor went, at least. And Chie couldn’t seem to shake the idea that it was true. The guy hadn’t missed work once, not in the entire time she’d been on the force. Something like this could only mean…
Chie sighed… it was almost a groan. The atmosphere in the offices was practically oppressive, and she could feel it. No one was speaking… They must be worried about Shinichi-kun, too. He’s practically the face of the force; not having him around just felt… off. And now the entire force was nervous…
And Chie didn’t like that.
“It might be true he’s ill…”
“But we don’t know how bad it really is!”
Chie.
“For all we know, he’ll be back by tomorrow~”
Chie, lower your voice a bit please
“And even if he isn’t, that just means we have to get things done ourselves!”
“When he gets back, he’ll be psyched to see that we haven’t fallen behind without him!”
Chie, why are you standing on your chair
“We all have to work together in Shinichi-kun’s absence!!”
AnonymousI pray that Kudou-san recovers soon...~❄ He was so good to me when I first came here and knew no-one. I'm sure I would have cried seeing that empty apartment if he hadn't been there to cheer me. I don't know much about the gods here, but if it means anything to You, please help him recover soon.❄
