Some guy you don’t know leans on your door frame. You wonder how he ended up in your apartment. You reconsider to call Aigis or Minato to scare him away. But he looks like he’s offering something.
What do you do? »Kick him out. »Call the Aigis Protection Service. »Call the Minato Glaring Service » Talk to him.
You ignore all those overrated options and talk to him. “Please don’t lean on my door-frame, I had to fix that from a certain incident. Now hey, what do you want?”
The mysterious figure placed his hands into his pockets and removed himself from the door frame. Heh. All people have to do is ask, you know? Well, whatever. Door frame leaning aside–
"Let me introduce myself first.” It’s called having manners, okay?! “I’m Shinichi Kudou, detective and boss of the Toshi City Defense Force.” IMPRESSED YET???? YOU BETTER.
Passing the books on the floor back to the shelf, C-ta heaved himself from his sitting position once more and sunk into a crouch instead, resting his hands on his kneecaps. Physically moving made him understand the wear that this development had put on him, but he didn’t address it. If he were the one receiving these emotions, then he had to carry them, for the detective was hoisting far more upon his lowered shoulders. He did, however, when shifting, lean in closer to him, his top teeth skimming over his bottom lip.
“But…”
“If it’s alright with you, I’m fine with giving you a chance.”
Smiling wasn’t a problem, but controlling the blush on his cheeks—? That was another matter. Such an inconvenient heartbeat, threatening to teeter him over from his laid back and relaxed state. Whenever had he become embarrassed, anyway? Surely, being confessed to and then being willing to go off on those feelings was something to fluster over, but he thought he was beyond that stage. He didn’t even return his feelings, but just the image of trying to see him in that light made him feel a lot more human.
“Haha, I mean, I’m not looking down on you… yet I don’t think I’ve ever looked at you properly, either.” He paused briefly, evaluating what he had given. By properly, he meant in a positive light. His overlook on Shinichi had drastically changed for the worse a few weeks back, and although that one development had led to the brunet opening up to the other boy, its effect was more negative than positive in terms of much he liked him. Rather, it dampened his favour.
“So, if you’ll be patient with me, then I’ll try.”
And in spite of saying that, he was so deniably afraid.
W-what was that?
Part of Shinichi felt utterly shattered by the other’s words. Not because they were painful, no, it was because they had felt extremely relieving. Even though he confessed, knowing he would get rejected, C-ta had been awfully gentle about it. He hadn’t apologized, nor yelled no or screamed “homo”. The other brunet didn’t even run off and maybe that was another part about him he liked. He was partly grateful that he had fallen for a boy who was so considerate with his feelings.
And yet C-ta’s words felt a bit cruel.
Because had he just flat out rejected Shinichi, then at least he would have been able to close the book and leave it forever. An impossible romance. To have fallen for a friend, selfishly made him his partner and to even discard his own childhood friend – if the existence of a ‘perfect crime’ was possible, then this would have been the complete opposite of that. All of this went clumsily, on a whim and in the end, Shinichi was a thorough sinner.
“Well…”
Shinichi nervously scratched at his own cheek, having felt completely overcome by C-ta’s radiant smile and words. He had never been prepared for a situation like this. What does a person even say when they’re not even rejected? A thank you? No, that couldn’t be right. Shinichi’s mind, now, was even more of a mess than it was before.
“If you’re okay with me having these feelings for you, then I don’t mind what you decide to do.” And then he got all the more flustered, to the point where his whole face turned a visible scarlet and words were hard to bring out. “Actually… I’m a little happy.”
“Thank you for considering giving me that chance…”
