As expected, it wasn’t going to be that easy. Smiling, Kaito nodded his head and went to order a chocolate mint ice-cream and a chocolate ice-cream for himself. Still, I’ve gotten the information i wanted. One, I’ve definitely took the right cellphone and two, he’s flustered because of the call.
Returning with the ice-cream, he passed one to Conan. I suppose that’s all the tricks I have for now… However, the real trick is due tonight.
Content with the progress he had made so far, Kaito reclined in his seat and enjoyed his favourite food. Actually, all these is simply to have a duel with this kid. To see if he could find out my identity before I reveal his. Kaito mused. He certainly is a worthy opponent.
Conan cautiously took the ice cream with both hands and smiled, sniffing at it before taking a few licks. It didn’t smell like almonds, so it probably wasn’t poisoned with cyanide. He couldn’t smell other poisons either. One never could be careful enough because even a minimum dose could kill him.
“Thank you Kaito-oniichan!” he cheered, swaying with his feet a little. For a minute or two he didn’t talk as he licked his ice cream, watching the other carefully. Finally though, he decided to break the silence by asking a few questions.
“Ne.. Kaito-oniichan.. Are you sure we haven’t met before? Are you maybe a classmate of Rin-neechan?”
Kaito.. Kaito… Kaito… Why did that name seem so familiar and relevant…
